splore 2010- Sustainability at its core
19 – 21 February
Splore, a music and arts festival held on 19-21 February, isn’t as much a festival as a life experience that continues to bring people together from all over the world to frolic in the summer splendour of the Tapapakanga Regional Park, a slice of coastal paradise on the Hauraki Gulf, just 70km south east of Auckland.
With a vision to be the greenest summer festival in New Zealand, it is no mean feat to accomplish when there are 10,000 camping on-site in a temporary community for 3 days. Amanda Wright, Splore Festival Director, is increasingly scaling the sustainable practices with each Splore festival and embracing new technology and processes to assist Splore to become a fully sustainable festival.
At the core of Splore’s ethos is sustainability, driven by Amanda’s vision for the planet. “An event of this nature has the potential to leave a nasty carbon footprint from transport, energy and waste,” she says. “We’ve worked hard to establish sustainable processes, from our office practices, to the festival site and with our sponsors and suppliers. We also work closely with the local community and businesses.”
Don’t miss out on Splore 2010, a three-day weekend that will delight, surprise, inspire and stimulate the senses.
