Description Toyota has a reputation for environmental leadership in the car industry, both in the greener technologies of the cars we make and sell, and in the way we run our business. Toyota was the first company to mass produce hybrid cars and to introduce them to NZ. Prius is the most popular hybrid on the market but we have a range of other used hybrid vehicles available of different sizes and specifications including Alphard, Estima, Kluger and Harrier models. Toyota was the first car company in NZ to publish a Sustainability Report; first to measure its carbon footprint and voluntarily offset its CO2 emissions; and is the first and only NZ car company to be ‘carboNZero’ certified. In 2007 and 2008 TNZ was listed in the top 5 companies for Massey University’s Corporate Social & Environmental Survey.

Certification

All new cars are designed and manufactured using life cycle assessment at ISO14001 accredited facilities. These manufacturing plants, as well as supplier companies, are subject to on-going reduction targets for energy, resource use, hazardous materials, waste and emissions. Our Thames Refurbishment Plant was the first Used Vehicle Plant in the world to be certified ISO 14001. Company certification: Toyota NZ is the first, and remains the only, NZ car company to have its operational practices certified CZ.
