Description The carboNZero programme is the only accredited ISO14065 greenhouse gas (GHG) verifier outside of the United States of America and the world’s first GHG certification scheme to be internationally accredited by JAS-ANZ (Joint Accreditation System – Australia and New Zealand) which comes under the auspices of the IAF (International Accreditation Forum). This accreditation is a critical part of our plans to ensure the carboNZero programme has the highest level of credibility and integrity. It simply means that we are the only GHG certification scheme that offers a framework for businesses here and overseas to measure and report their carbon footprint with the confidence and credibility that it has been verified against a global standard and is accepted in 50 major world economies. The carboNZero programme applies international best practice to help organisations, products, services and events of any size accurately measure and manage (reduce) their GHG emissions. For those wishing to offset their remaining unavoidable emissions, the programme also offers verified carbon credits from credible New Zealand projects. The programme is based on over 15 years of research on climate change, GHG measurement and carbon monitoring at leading Government owned Crown Research Institute, Landcare Research. It is important for businesses to understand their carbon footprint as it can reveal opportunities to address inefficiencies and boost financial returns. Because organisations and products are being compared by shareholders, stakeholders and markets on the basis of what their footprint is then they need assurances that everybody is being measured against a standard that’s been verified so there are no misleading claims in the market. Certification

The international accreditation has been awarded by the Joint Accreditation System – Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) which is an international accreditation body established by a treaty between the New Zealand and Australian governments and linked through the IAF which promotes mutual acceptance of certification to common international standards.

JAS-ANZ is the government-appointed accreditation body for Australia and New Zealand responsible for providing accreditation of conformity assessment bodies (CABs) in the fields of certification and inspection. Accreditation by JAS-ANZ demonstrates the competence and independence of these CABs.
