Most people don't not fully use the power schemes in Windows to switch off things like the screen etc. because it's too irratating. But out of work hours this means that PCs are consuming valuable resources whilst sitting idle, simply because we don't get back and switch them off. PowerSlave is FREEfor personal use and it allows you to have two power schemes and will automatically swap based on your working day setup. At night use a more evironmentally scheme that will power down your pc into a more environmentally state.
